what family has written and website

cynthia straus writes
Before Gammie died she showed me a picture of Rebecca. She said "This is Rebecca Jacobson. She was my mother's mother. She had red hair and freckles, so if you ever have a child with red hair and freckles you know they came by it naturally."

Hi Sandy, Betty sent me this and I think it is great. I hope you remember me. I live in Denver Co.I am a niece to Uncle Reuben and Aunt Martha.I am the youngest of 14 Bordy grandchildren. Rita

Hi Sandy, Nice to hear from you. Yes, I grew up in Walthill till I went in to 4th grade then we moved to Omaha. Your mother was the oldest grandchild and I was the youngest of Abraham and Jennie Bordy. Their were 14 grandchildren. Your Mother always told me the Dr. let her come in and watch me being born. She was 20 years old at the time. I have two children Jamie who is 46 and Brad is 43. I have four grandchildren who range in age from 17 to 2. Tell me about you and your family. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me. I am in touch with all the rest of my cousins who are still living, but Betty is the only one that does E-Mail. I will check out your Walthill web site now.

THERE IS NO WALTHILL WEBSITE YET. THERE IS A BORDY TREE WEBSITE THOUGH.

ruben and marthe,phot from approx.1915

JENNY WAS GRANDPA BORDY'S MOM, not grandma's

OOPS. aunt betty pointed out that her grandmother pred was named rebecca not jennie. it was indeed rebecca jacobson not jenny switzer. and it was rebecca who was born in bordeaux. she was the only person in that generation who was born in france. she supposedly has a sephardic background, but i have been unable to check it out because the naturalization records from the early 1900's are sketchy. not only did the wife and children become naturalized when the husband/father did, but also, the application forms were sketchy. if anyone is going to france and is willing to do some research, please let me know

MARCH 15, 2007

the anniversary of the birth of grandma bordy, marthe, and me. she was born in 1896 or 1897. i was born in 1938. i was her first grandchild. "a birthday gift" they used to say.

i have been doing research into the family. contrary to popular family mythology, grandma was the only child of issac predmestsky and jennie switzer who was born in bordeaux. issac was born in bialastok, russia. it seems he was abit of a vagabond. he met jennie in bordeaux. they married, grandma was born and then they moved back to russia where another child was born. from there they moved to the united states in 1890. all of the other children were born in nebraska. you can see more of this information on the family tree which hopefully, with the help of david fiedler i will be able to post soon.
